New Blog!

I discovered cake pops back in October 2010, I really wanted to try make Bakerella's cute pumpkin cake pops. I never did end up making them (Although I plan to). I started looking through her website and found some really cute pumpkin pies that I wanted to make.

I went out and bought her Cake pop book and have been hooked ever since. The first ones I made were last Easter.

I made them for our family Easter dinner celebration. Lets just say everyone loved them, and I was totally hooked with the idea of making cake pops. Although I didn't get a chance to make them again till this past Christmas.

I decided to try out making a groom cake pop, but didn't have the right colours, so here is my make-shift groom.

This next one probably won't make sense to anyone. But, I love them all the same. My sister in law is studying microbiology. She has always gotten what are called 'Giant Microbes', they are pretty much stuffed animal versions of specific bacteria, viruses and some parasites. So the cake pop on the left is called 'Campylobacter jejuni' which she is going to be doing a big study on soon, and the one on the right is called 'Helicobacter Pylori' which commonly causes ulcers. To any normal person this might be a bit weird, but she LOVED these, and I loved making them. (I'm a bit of a nerd too)

Anyways, that's it for now. I have made cake pops with two friends now but don't have the pictures of them, some were the Christmas ones and we just tried to make valentines ones. We tried to use red velvet cake for them and they didn't quite turn out as planned. Turns out there was a lot of oil in them and it caused them to crack. I plan to try them again soon, I'll let you know how they turn out!!
